District 43 - White, Grundy and part of Warren Counties
Representative Curtiss represents House District 43. He resides on a farm 7 miles west of Sparta and his district includes all of White County, ¾ of Warren County and the Eastern portion of Putnam County. Born February 9, 1947, Representative Curtiss is married to Peggy and has one daughter, Nichole. He belongs to Freewill Baptist Church in White County and is a graduate of Glencliff High School. He is a member of several organizations, including the American Legion, the Lion’s Club and the White County Farm Bureau.
Representative Curtiss is a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. He is a past master of Sparta Lodge #99, a York Rite Mason, a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason, and a member of the Al Menah Shrine. He spent four years as White County Commissioner and four years as White County Executive. He has been a House member since the 99th General Assembly.
Currently, Representative Curtiss serves as Chairman of the House Commerce Committee and as Chairman of the Fiscal Review Committee. He is a member of the Finance, Ways & Means Committee and the Calendar & Rules Committee. He sits on the Joint Select Committee on Worker’s Compensation; the Joint Select Committee on Corrections Oversight, and serves as Co-Chair of the Joint Select Committee on Veterans Affairs.
Representative Curtiss works at LTD Parts in White County as Safety and Environmental Manager. He manages his many duties effectively and efficiently. Charlie is well-known for being fair and honest. When he gives his word, it is not broken. His colorful way of speaking and his many “Curtissisms” are legendary. He serves his district, state, and country with dignity and honor. He is considered role model and mentor by many.
